UIT DESTACA AUSPICIO DE PRESIDENTA LAURA CHINCHILLA A INICIATIVA GLOBAL "CHILD ONLINE PROTECTION"
25 Noviembre 2010
17-18 November 2010, Costa Rica
"It was a real pleasure to visit Costa Rica this week to announce — together with Her Excellency President Laura Chinchilla — the next phase of ITU’s global Child Online Protection initiative".
"COP was launched in 2008 and set about developing international guidelines for protecting young people in cyberspace. ITU is greatly honoured that President Chinchilla has agreed to become a patron of the initiative, which now moves into its next phase — with Costa Rica leading the way.
This phase involves developing specific codes of conduct for industry, roadmaps for governments to establish the necessary administrative and legal frameworks, and training for parents and teachers.
It’s the duty of each and every one of us to help create safe and entertaining spaces online, where children and young people can get the best from the digital world.
President Laura Chinchilla has been an active and outspoken advocate of family values, and I’m delighted to have her onboard as a Patron of our Child Online Protection initiative".
